What Are Personal Goals?

We'll cover Goals in more detail later in this article, but let's start with the basics! Personal Goals are exactly that, personal and private; they can only be created, modified and viewed by the individual who created them.

Navigating Personal Goals

There are two main places where you can manage and track your goals in the Produce8 web app:

  1.  Your Personal Homepage is the best place to track your progress against your goals:

    Personal Homepage
  2. Your Goals Homepage is the best place to create, edit, or delete goals. You can access this page by either:
    • Clicking Manage Goals from your Personal Homepage, or
    • Selecting My Goals from the menu that's available when you click your name at the top right of any page in the Produce8 Web App.

Types of Goals

When setting goals, you can focus on either how you use a specific App or your Personal Insights metrics:

  • Goals for App Usage: Set daily or weekly targets for minimum or maximum usage of an of your work applications that you follow in Produce8.  You can set goals for the number of interactions or the total time spent in any app.
  • Personal Insights Goals: Personal Insights Goals allow you to set daily or weekly minimum or maximum targets for your personal insights scores (Digital Working Hours, Time In Apps, Digital Intensity, Focus Score, and Time In Calls).

Viewing Goals & Tracking Progress

Your goals and their progress are essential aspects of your journey towards achievement. To help you stay on track and make informed decisions, you can access goal summaries and progress updates in various locations:

Goal Summary On Your Personal Homepage

This section serves as a "snapshot" of your goal metrics. When you first navigate to this page, you'll find today's value, the percentage difference from your goal, and the goal value.

From here, you can use the Date Picker to get a snapshot of your work patterns, Insights, and Goals and toggle between Daily and Weekly Views.

Best Practices For Effective Goal Setting

Setting Goals

It's important to set your goals with deliberate intention.  In addition to the specific target that you set when you create the goal in Produce8, you should also consider the following questions so that you can be sure that achieving your goal will lead to better results:

  • What's the problem that you want to solve by setting this goal?
  • What's the benefit of achieving the goal?
  • Once you set the goal, how will you achieve and maintain it?

Example 1:  Improve productivity by limiting collaboration distraction

  • Enhance focus and minimize distractions during work hours, set a maximum limit for daily use of your collaboration apps, and/or setting a minimum target for Focus Score.
  • Establishing a maximum cap on messaging app interactions can help you maintain productivity and concentration throughout the day.

Example 2:  Spend more time doing your most important work

  • Set a minimum threshold for the amount of time spent in your core work apps and by aiming for a specific focus score each day.
  • Make productivity a priority by ensuring you spend a minimum amount of time in your essential work applications or by striving to achieve a consistent Focus Score.

Example 3: Protect your wellbeing and prevent burnout

  • Prioritize your well-being and work-life balance by setting a maximum limit for your daily or weekly Working Hours or Digital Intensity to prevent burnout.
  • To safeguard your mental and physical health, establish a maximum threshold for your Time In Apps and/or Digital Intensity.
