Produce8 Deployment Guide

This guide walks you through deploying the Produce8 Agent, Browser Extensions, and optional Desktop App using your RMM tools. It is intended for organizations deploying Produce8 for the first time, or teams rolling out Produce8 products to new machines.

Who is this guide for?

This guide is designed for:

  • Customers who have not previously deployed Produce8
  • Organizations using RMM tools to install Produce8 on new or existing devices
  • Teams completing their first rollout of the Agent, Browser Extensions, and Desktop App

Prerequisites

Before you begin deployment, ensure:

  • You have a Produce8 account
  • You can log into the Produce8 web app
  • Your RMM platform supports running:
    • PowerShell scripts (Windows)
    • Bash scripts (macOS)

Produce8 Product Suite Overview

1. Agent (Required)

The Produce8 Agent collects desktop and browser activity from each device.

Once installed, it automatically begins sending activity needed for insights and dashboards.

2. Browser Extensions (Highly Recommended)

Browser interactions make up a significant portion of modern work.

Installing extensions ensures Produce8 captures accurate website activity.

Supported browsers:

  • Google Chrome
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Brave
  • Arc
  • Opera

3. Desktop App (Optional)

The Desktop App:
  • Allows users to view a summary of their insights
  • Enables users to claim their “Anonymous User” profile
  • Is required if users will sign into Produce8 from their device

Install the Produce8 Agent

The Agent can be deployed using:

  • PowerShell script (Windows)

  • Bash script (macOS)

Here are the instructions for locating the scripts in the Produce8 web app.

You can also access all scripts from our GitHub repository.

⚠️ Important:

Some RMM's require the Account ID to be hardcoded in the script. Review the script notes carefully and adjust as needed unless your RMM supports custom variables.

Validate Agent Installation

Once deployed, verify that devices are reporting correctly.

In the Produce8 Web App
  1. Select your profile icon (bottom-left corner).
  2. Click Account Settings.
  3. Navigate to Account Health → Devices.

Devices with the Agent installed will appear on this page. It may take a few minutes for new devices to show — Refresh the page if needed.

Anonymous Users

When the Agent is installed but the user has not yet claimed their profile, Produce8 automatically creates an Anonymous User for that device.

To view Anonymous Users:
  1. Select your profile icon (bottom-left corner).
  2. Click Account Settings.
  3. Navigate to Account Health → Anonymous Users.

Install Browser Extensions

Browser extensions can be installed using:

  • PowerShell scripts
  • Bash scripts
  • RMM deployment jobs
  • Direct installation via browser extension stores

Here are the instructions to find the scripts on the Produce8 website.

You can also access all scripts from our GitHub repository.

⚠️ Important:

Extensions require a full browser restart to begin sending activity. Close all tabs for the target browser, make sure the browser quits fully, then reopen it.

You will know the extension is active when the Produce8 logo appears in your browser's extension tray.

Install the Desktop App (Optional)

Install the Desktop App when:

  • Users will sign into Produce8 directly
  • Users need to claim their Anonymous User profile

Installation can be completed using PowerShell or Bash scripts. Here are the instructions to find the scripts on the Produce8 website.

Or find the Install-Produce8-App script from our GitHub repository.

After Desktop App Installation
  1. Ensure the Agent is already installed
  2. Follow the guide to claim their Anonymous User profile
  3. Once claimed, users appear as Known Users under Account Health

To view Known Users:
  1. Select your profile icon (bottom-left corner).
  2. Click Account Settings.
  3. Navigate to Account Health → Known Users.
